Bridging Generations is an-eighteen-month project (October 2014March 2016) within the framework of the Europe for Citizens Programme, under Strand 1: European Remembrance. The project seeks to raise awareness of remembrance, common history and values. It also seeks to promote European citizenship by bridging the gap between generations and involving them in an intergenerational and intercultural dialogue. The main focus is on the memories of senior citizens from Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy and Poland who lived during and after WWII. Their stories will be collected in order to appreciate the role of collective memories in achieving mutual understanding and cultural diversity. Using the method of biographical narrative, the impact of WWII on shaping national identities in Europe and the commemoration of the victims of war will be examined and discussed. European citizens can not forget their histories and cultural traditions and as a result, they can not escape from them. Through Bridging Generations project, European citizens are asked to share their stories with the younger generations so that they can learn about the aftermath of war and specifically of WWII through personal experiences and collective memories. Collective memory includes critical aspects of political culture, community traditions, and social identity. It informs our understanding of past events and present relationships, as well as it contributes to our expectations about the future and this is what Bridging Generations aspires to do; build a better future for Europe. By recording and sharing life experiences of senior citizens, a common platform is created which connects the stories of senior citizens from different countries. In this way their messages and experiences are passed on to younger generations who are further removed from the trauma of the war. Young people therefore become aware of the impacts of the totalitarian regimes and of wars. As Maurice Halbwachs, a French sociologist and philosopher said, “Memories are passed through society via verbal exchange, and if the way of recollecting the past is through silence, then this is also transmitted, and becomes a mode of remembrance in itself”. The project involves European citizens from 3 different age groups – young people up to 30 years old (students and professionals) – adults between 30 and 65 years old (film makers, sociologists, project manager, culture managers, historians, artists, art educators, policy makers, researchers, professors) – senior citizens (65+) from Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy and Poland. The project includes 5 meetings: the first meeting took place in November 2014. Representatives of the partner organizations gathered to plan their cooperation within and their contributions to the “Bridging Generations” project. The second meeting was held from 11 to 15 February 2015, on the anniversary of the 1945 Dresden’s bombing and the celebration of 70 years of peace since the end of WWII. From 26 - 29 May 2015, the third international meeting took place in Wroclaw and Olesnica, Poland (video). From 28 to 31 October 2015, the fourth international meeting is going to be held in Thessaloniki, Greece. The main activities of the project will be workshops on biographical narrative, interviews and visits to places of remembrance, including monuments commemorating victims and historical museums. Commemoration events, art exhibitions, performances and discussions on Europe's future and sustainability will be presented during the study-visit in Thessaloniki. The experiences and knowledge gained through the project will be presented in the final event of the project in the form of a conference which will include cultural events such as an intergenerational performance, an art exhibition and a concert from the 13th to the 15th of February 2016 in Dresden, Germany. http://www.bridging-generations.de https://www.facebook.com/bridging.generations.de Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. http://www.jkpev.de http://www.facebook.com/jkpev.de Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. In this Majority Report clip, an Infowars "reporter" chases former CIA director David Petraeus around the streets of Dresden while Petraeus is out for a run. Bilderberg is what "The Guardian" calls "a key lobbying enterprise for big oil and big banking" where worldwide leaders and power players meet in REALLY TOP-SECRET SECRET. So obviously one important thing to ask of an attendee is if he thinks Hillary Clinton should "resign from the Democratic Party" because she has a "scandal" with the word "email" in it, just like Petraeus did. Only the two incidents ARE NOTHING ALIKE, NOT AT ALL, OMG INFOWARS SERIOUSLY. Police were on high alert outside the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Hotel in Dresden, Thursday, as the participants of the four-day Bilderberg Group conference arrived ahead of the conference. Considered to be one of the most secretive summits of the year, the 2016 conference, like its predecessors, is attended by some of the world's elite. To ensure the privacy of the attendees themselves, numerous security measurements were taken around the hotel. More than 400 police officers were deployed to barricade the area. A number of representatives from several right-wing European political parties, including Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD), criticised Western sanctions against Russia in Dresden, Monday. Speaking at a joint press-conference with politicians representing Italy's Northern League (LN) and Austria's Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), AfD MP Jorg Urban stated that sanctions were not only harming Saxony's economy, but also Germany's and the EU's. The FPO's Wolfgang Jung also criticised NATO deployment in the Baltics, suggesting that the move was a "stupid provocation." The press conference came following an international conference dubbed 'Cooperation Instead of Confrontation', attended by representatives of the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group alongside Russian lawmakers and experts. Jorg Urban, Alternative for Germany (AfD) representative for Saxony (German): "A representative of the association of Saxony's economy attended our conference and he confirmed our position. He made clear that besides the financial loss through exports, there is a long-term loss, with Russia being a growing market - which it is - for Saxony's economy. And during our conference it was confirmed that this is also affecting all of Germany and the EU rather than just Saxony. These sanctions are harming the EU's economy massively, and we know that politically they have no effect." Wolfgang Jung, Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) representative (German): "Such sanctions did not work for Napoleon and his Continental blockade already. They are only jeopardising the political climate and are changing the situation, instead of engaging in dialogue. Improvement is only possible through dialogue. I understand that the Baltic States have prejudices against Russia due to their history. However, deploying a brigade in the Baltics, which is breaching international NATO agreements, is a stupid provocation and window dressing." Andrei Tatarinov, Director of the Center for Actual Politics in Russia (Russian): "The expectations of Western countries including America and the past administration of Barack Obama assuming that the sanctions would bring Russia down did not become reality. Russia's society is consolidated enough; the economy passed this test of crises and sanctions according to many experts. Nevertheless, we want to achieve a normal political relationship and it is good that today we see corresponding events happening in Europe. I think that sanctions are a boomerang leading to mutual inconveniences. During this conference we heard the opinions of many economic experts who were telling an entirely opposite story. They talked about European entrepreneurs, including German ones, who suffer damages due to the sanctions against Russia rather than vice versa. This includes small businesses and logistics, the auto industry etc." Andrei Tatarinov, Director of the Center for Actual Politics in Russia (Russian): "The Centre of Current Politics issued its report about legal entities like The European Court of Human Rights, ECHR, and we think that this structure is using its legal leverage - which is not right and not democratic - to moderate inner-political issues. With its decisions it is encouraging certain political forces within Russia economically through court action, while forming a negative informational background concerning Russia's authorities. This, among other things, is an element of information warfare although it seems that Russia is fulfilling its financial obligations towards the Council of Europe. Annually more than 33 million euros are transferred to this structure and its expenses are a fixed part of the Russian budget. At the same time, Russia has been deprived of its voice in the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of Europe), which controls and coordinates the work of the ECHR." Andrei Tatarinov, Director of the Center for Actual Politics in Russia (Russian): "These politics of distortion of Russia's positions must be reversed with the help of such dialogue."c Video ID: 20170403 023 Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tv Contact: cd@ruptly.tv Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly
